Community Engagement Officer

Fixed term to 31st March 2025

Hours per week – 21.75 over 3 days

Salary – £25315 (pro rata)

Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Engagement Officer to join our team. As a Community Engagement Officer, you will play a vital role in fostering positive relationships between AdvoCard and the wider community as we begin our new Digital Advocacy Project. You will be responsible for developing and implementing outreach strategies to engage community organisations, health professionals and advocacy partners with the aim towards building and maintaining robust referral pathways into the project.

Essential

  • Knowledge of mental health conditions and the barriers to digital communication.
  • Experience of managing your own workload.
  • Experience of engagement work, outreach, or related roles.

Desirable skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences and build rapport.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
  • Passion for making a positive impact in the community and a commitment to social change.

Advocacy Worker (PSU)

Fixed term to 31st March 2025

Hours per week – 18 over 3 days

Salary 25315 (pro rata)

Overview

As an advocacy worker with our PSU advocacy service, you will support people who identify as having problematic substance use to make supported decisions; by supporting them to have their voice hear, providing help to articulating their needs and providing them with information on their rights in relation to their recovery treatment

Essential

  • Knowledge of and/or experience of working in the recovery sector in Edinburgh
  • Knowledge of stigma and the barriers that stigma can cause to individuals seeking treatment.

Desirable Skills

  • Lived experience of problematic substance use
  • Knowledge of mental health conditions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
  • Passion for making a positive impact in the community and a commitment to social change.
