We were so proud to see two of our volunteers being presented with awards from the Lord Provost at Volunteer Edinburgh’s Annual Awards Ceremony this month.

Norma Arthur was presented with an Individual Inspiring Volunteer Award
Norma has been a volunteer with us for 13 years and has been especially important in providing Advocacy Support in the field of Children and Family work, she has helped numerous Advocacy Partners with difficult and emotional meetings bringing her professionalism, care and understanding to support people in the difficult times that they face.
She has a particular care and empathy for parents going through any sort of Children and Families work, an area where she excels. Norma brings an enthusiasm for our work based on a deep understanding of the needs of people who use our service.

Dave Millar, who recently retired, received a Special Recognition Award for Long Standing Contribution to Volunteering
Dave was our longest serving volunteer before retiring from volunteering at the end of last year. 17 years! Dave has worked in every area of our advocacy work, helped numerous people through difficult issues. Dave brought calmness, unflappability and dogged determination to stick up for anyone who had been ignored or not listened to. His sense of fair play and justice brought him to AdvoCard and made him stay.
His empathy and understanding of the problems people face, gave him the authenticity and intuitive understanding of how people felt and how they wanted and needed to be treated by services.
All our volunteers play a key role in the success of AdvoCard and it is lovely to see them receive the recognition that they deserve. Well done to you both.
