AdvoCard Collective Advocacy have heard from a number of people in Edinburgh that they have had difficulty in seeing or making an appointment with a psychiatrist in the last year or so, with some people with severe or enduring mental health issues being told they will no longer receive care from a psychiatrist.
We would like to hear from you about what your experiences of this issue have been in the last two years. We will be writing to NHS Lothian to raise awareness of the issue and ask questions about why it is happening. Hearing your experiences will help us tell us NHS Lothian about the issue. We will also post the letter on our website to further raise awareness.
You can respond if you were previously seeing a psychiatrist but are no longer able to see one, if you are still seeing a psychiatrist but you are finding it more difficult to get an appointment, or if you are waiting to see a psychiatrist and it is taking a long time. Or if you are having any other difficulty in seeing a psychiatrist.
Please use the box below to tell us about your experience. Please put your name and contact details if you would like to be kept updated. We won’t include names, contact details or any other information we think may identify someone when we write to NHS Lothian or in our website post.
Please get back to us by end of day Sunday 7th August.
If you think that writing about your experience may be distressing, please consider if you have the necessary support in place before you do so.
If you have any questions or would prefer to speak to a collective advocacy worker over the phone please contact us.
